Volunteer software / Club project
Rochester Area Flyers
Building tools for a volunteer free-flight community, with real people at the center.

Volunteer application design and development
- The problem
- Students, instructors, and volunteers need clear information and practical next steps across a continuing club experience.
- What I’m building
- Translate club and member needs into requirements and application design. Focus on role-specific information, understandable handoffs, and participation over time.

Good software has to work for people with lives outside the software.
My Rochester Area Flyers work supports a volunteer hang-gliding and paragliding community in western New York. It is separate from my personal Best Day So Far app.
The design challenge is human: make information clear, make the next step easy, and support students, instructors, and volunteers over time.
The club website is currently hosted at bestdaysofar.net. That address serves RAF content; it is not currently a Best Day So Far story homepage.

The choices behind the work.
Start with the people doing the work.
Students, instructors, and volunteers come with different questions. Requirements and application design start with those roles and the information each needs.
Make the next step understandable.
The design work focuses on clear information, practical handoffs, and a student experience that can support participation over time.
Respect the community’s context.
This is a volunteer club project with its own purpose. It is separate from my personal Best Day So Far product and its roadmap.
