The human

More than
a job title.

I’m Keene Hammond, a software engineering leader and hands-on builder in Rochester, New York. Software teams, flying, music, art, and the occasional table full of dice all belong in the same life.

There’s more than one chapter.

Before enterprise software leadership, I helped run front-of-house operations at Geva Theatre Center and managed WMCC The Fuse, a college radio station. People, schedules, training, programming—and the work of keeping things running.

Today I lead approximately 12 developers at Uniti Group. I’ve been a software engineer, an architect, and a manager. I like being able to talk about the people and the system in the same conversation—from developer coaching and enterprise architecture to Azure migrations and the everyday work of helping a team ship well.

Outside work, there’s hang gliding, paragliding, and instructor-supervised sailplane training. My first sailplane flight is in the archive; the learning continues. Flying also gave me the questions behind Condor Flight Lab.

Best Day So Far is my reminder—and the product I’m building—to choose one good thing and make today count. It is a personal project; my Rochester Area Flyers work is separate volunteer software for the local free-flight community.

Off duty
